Volunteers

If you are a volunteer or would only like to receive information about our events please subscribe to our supporter's newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time and your information will not be sold or loaned outside this organization.

First, we would like to thank all the volunteers for their help in the past. There are many ways that you can help out. These jobs may require climbing up and down rocky banks of the river, but if you have a condition that doesn't allow for that, we can find something that doesn't require as much climbing. There are two shifts per race day that lasts about 4 hours each. You can volunteer for only one or both shifts. Volunteers should arrive no later than 8 am for morning shift and no later than 11:45 am for afternoon shifts.

Our main need is for Gate Judges. If you've never judged before, it is really easy. Download the Gate Judging 101 pdf and read over it. An example of a race score sheet can be found HERE. if you have never judged before, it is recommended you review this information before coming for the races. It is also recommended but not required to come to our training day before the race season begins. Once a date has been determined, that date will be posted here and will also be emailed to our volunteers.

A waiver form must be filled out prior to racing and can be download here for Adult or Minor.

It is recommended that you bring a bag (such as a backpack) with things you may need or want. Some suggested items are: Hat, Sun Glasses, Sun Block, layered Clothing (It's usually cool in the mornings and warm during the day) and a Poncho (if rain is possible). Bottled water will be available and a Free drink and lunch for volunteers. If you work two or more shifts at any of the races you will receive a Free shirt as also. This year is it going to be for the first time ever a special staff shirt you can wear with pride! There is also Free parking and entrance for volunteers. Volunteers should Contact Us for shifts willing to work.
